The 2007 Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP) will be a regional and multi-agency effort (South Coast
Air Quality Management District Governing Board, California Air Resources
Board, Southern California Association of Governments and US Environmental
Protection Agency). State and federal planning requirements will
include developing control strategies, attainment demonstration, reasonable
further progress, and maintenance plans.
The SCAQMD, has scheduled
a series of public workshops and regional hearings to discuss the proposed modifications to the
draft 2007 AQMP. The proposed modifications to the Draft 2007 AQMP can be
downloaded from the links below and are available as Acrobat files (PDF). Dates, times and locations for the
workshops and hearings can be found through the following link: Public Workshops and
Regional Hearings.
The Public Workshop presentation can found
below.
A
Draft Socioeconomic Report
was prepared to evaluate cost and benefit of clean air and their impact on
the local economy from implementing the 2007 AQMP.
The 2007 AQMP also incorporates significant new scientific data,
primarily in the form of updated emissions inventories, ambient
measurements, new meteorological episodes and new air quality modeling
tools. In accordance with the requirements of the California Environmental
Quality Act, potential environmental impacts to the proposed modifications
to the Draft 2007 AQMP were analyzed in a
Draft
Program Environmental Impact Report which was released on March 2, 2007
for a 45-day public review and comment period ending April 17, 2007.

On June 5 and 6, 2006, an Air Quality Summit was attended by 125 experts
from a variety of areas in order to solicit new and innovative concepts in
an open forum.
Air Quality Summit
There is an Advisory Group that meets monthly during the development of the
2007 AQMP to review the overall aspects of a draft air quality management
plan and to make recommendations concerning emission inventories, modeling,
control measures, and socioeconomic impacts.
2007 AQMP Advisory Group
There is also a Scientific Technical & Modeling Peer Review Advisory Group
that also meets monthly during the development of the 2007 AQMP to provide
review of AQMD modeling, monitoring, and related scientific issues.
