JOSIE GONZALES
Governing Board Member
County of San Bernardino
Fifth District

Josie Gonzales proudly serves as Supervisor for San Bernardino County’s 5th District. She is currently serving her second term as County Supervisor.

On January 27, 2009, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors appointed Supervisor Gonzales as the County’s representative on the South Coast AQMD Governing Board.

Supervisor Gonzales strongly believes that when we work together, we can accomplish great things. True to her belief, she strives to build non-partisan relationships on federal, state and local levels to meet the needs of her constituents.

As the 5th District Supervisor, her goal is to help provide residents with a better quality of life by helping to create local job opportunities thereby helping to reduce long commutes and traffic congestion, providing clean drinking water, improving air quality, and developing smart growth communities that offer safe neighborhoods where residents can enjoy fuller, more productive lives.

As a County representative on various boards, committees and commissions, Supervisor Gonzales works hard to find the common threads among services and programs that will help achieve a healthier, more enriching quality of life for her constituents and the County as a whole. If we produce healthy communities today, Supervisor Gonzales believes our children will be healthier adults tomorrow.

Prior to being elected 5th District Supervisor, she served for six years as a Councilmember for the City of Fontana. As Chair for the Fontana Redevelopment Agency and the Chair for the Fontana Downtown Revitalization Task Force, she focused on providing safe, affordable housing for seniors, local access to higher education opportunities, beautification of open space areas, and funding for the City’s new library.

Supervisor Gonzales is also a successful small business entrepreneur. With her parents she owned Mexico Lindo Restaurant that proudly served the Inland Empire for 46 years.

A lifelong San Bernardino County resident she now lives in the City of Fontana with her husband Jess. In her free time she enjoys reading, gardening and family gatherings with Jess, her four adult children and her six grandchildren.
