Reconfiguration of South Coast AQMD Governing Board Under SB 886

Recent Sacramento legislation, SB 886 (Negrete-McLeod), enlarged and reconfigured the AQMD Governing Board effective January 1, 2008.  The bill expanded the Board from 12 to 13 members and reconstituted the geographic sectors for the Los Angeles based seats, as follows:

  • The City of Los Angeles now holds an individual seat.  L.A. City Councilwoman Jan Perry, formerly the L.A. County Western Region representative, will now serve in this Board position.

  • The L.A. County Western Region is reconfigured with an expanded total of 51 cities.  Long Beach City Councilwoman Tonia Reyes Uranga, formerly the L.A. County Eastern Region representative, will now serve in this Board position.

  • The L.A. County Eastern Region is newly configured with a total of 34 cities.  On January 31, 2008, South Pasadena Mayor Michael A. Cacciotti was elected to serve in this position by the City Selection Committee.
