Jill Whynot has extensive experience working in the air
pollution field, with 18 years at AQMD. As Director of Strategic Initiatives,
she is responsible for leading AQMD’s efforts in developing and evaluating air
quality policies and strategies to address global warming and greenhouse gases.
She is also in charge of the PM Control Strategies, the California Air Toxics
Hot Spots Program (AB2588), annual emissions reporting, inventory, and
socioeconomic assessments units.
Prior accomplishments at AQMD include managing controversial policy and rule
development efforts related to toxic air contaminants and criteria pollutants,
emissions trading, Title V, and new source review.
Before joining AQMD, Jill spent ten years in research on the respiratory effects
of acute air pollution exposures at the Los Amigos Research and Education
Institute Incorporated of Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center.
Jill has a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science in Environmental and
Occupational Health Science from California State University, Northridge.
