AQMD recognizes the important role of small business in this
region’s economic vitality and growth. At the same time, emissions from
thousands of small businesses contribute to our air pollution problem. The AQMD Governing Board
has authorized a financial resource to
stimulate economic growth and yet balance air pollution impacts in the
region. Dry Cleaner Financial Incentive Grant Program
On December 2002, the AQMD Governing Board approved the amendment of Rule
1421 to gradually phase out the use of perchloroethylene (perc) in the
region. Since then, the Board has authorized $250,000 in grants, over
several phases, to assist dry
cleaners to purchase non-perc alternative technologies. Grants up to $20,000 are available for different technologies such as
professional wet cleaning systems or CO2 machines.
