The mission and legal obligation of the SCAQMD is to protect the public
health of all residents of the South Coast Air Basin from unhealthy air
pollutants. One of the approaches taken by the SCAQMD to
meet this goal is to take positions on legislation
recommended by the Legislative Committee and approved by the Governing
Board. The recommendations the Committee makes are based
on AQMD’s mission, goals, objectives, programs, and the guiding principles
previously approved by the Governing Board. The
Legislative Committee meets on the second Friday of every month at 9 a.m.
and the Governing Board meets on the first Friday of every month at 9
a.m. Public participation is welcomed and encouraged in order to strengthen
the regulatory process.
