Obama Administration Begins with New Leadership in Key Air Quality-Related Federal Agencies

Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009, bringing new leadership to key federal government agencies that work in conjunction with SCAQMD to clean our air. Lisa Jackson was approved by the U.S. Senate on January 23, 2009 to be the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency and Dr. Steven Chu was sworn in on January 21, 2009 as the new Secretary of Energy. SCAQMD looks forward to working with our federal colleagues to implement policies to help our region meet National Ambient Air Quality standards.
