Execute Contracts for
Rule 2202 Air Quality Investment Program (AQIP)
At its February 1, 2007 meeting, the Board approved the release of an

Approve Rule 2202 Marine Vessel Emission Reduction Quantification
Protocol
Under Rule 2202, affected employers may elect to comply with the rule
requirements through several options. One of those options provides for
the implementation of emission reduction strategies that would receive
credit toward the employer’s Rule 2202 emission reduction target. The
generated credit must be real, quantifiable, enforceable, and surplus
emission reductions for a discrete period of time. In addition, the
strategy must be consistent with other AQMD regulations and follow the
Rule 2202 On-Road Motor Vehicle Mitigation Options
Implementation Guidelines. Under the Guidelines, emission reduction
credits generated for Rule 2202 must follow approved emissions reduction
quantification protocols for the specific emissions source categories.
If such protocols do not exist or outdated, then new quantification
protocols may be developed. The protocols must be approved by the AQMD
Mobile Source Committee prior to their use. Staff has developed an
emissions quantification protocol for marine vessels for the AQMD Mobile
Source Committee’s consideration. (Attachment 2) |
