Update on National
Air Quality Standards: Nitrogen Dioxide and Sulfur Dioxide
The U.S. EPA has recently promulgated a new National Ambient Air Quality
Standard (NAAQS) for Nitrogen Dioxide, and as proposed a new NAAQS for
Sulfur Dioxide. Staff will present an overview of these actions, and
how the new and proposed standards compare to recent air quality in the
South Coast.

Overview of Potential Amendments to
the Statewide On-Road Truck and Bus Regulation Proposed by CARB
In December 2009, the CARB Board directed staff to further develop
alternative compliance options to the Statewide Truck and Bus Regulation
to provide temporary compliance relief during the current economic
downturn. Staff will provide an
overview of CARB staff’s proposals and analysis of the alternative
compliance options and the potential impact the proposed alternative
compliance options may have on the 2007 SIP for the South Coast Air
Basin.
