Fabian R. Wesson is the Assistant Deputy Executive Officer/Public Advisor in the Office of Legislative, Public Affairs & Media. She is responsible for activities related to SCAQMD’s public outreach and education programs, small business and local government assistance activities, Environmental Justice programs, and legislative issues.
Fabian also serves as SCAQMD's Public Advisor. The Public Advisor’s office provides administrative assistance, technical services and information to small businesses and the public. She and her staff facilitate participation of the small business community and the public in SCAQMD’s programs and regulatory activities.
Prior to joining SCAQMD, Fabian served as a consultant in the office of the California Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De León, from 2013 until December 2016. In that role, she advised on issues related to women, education and homelessness, and also served as a liaison to elected officials in Southern California and with the African-American community. From 2009 to 2013, Fabian served as Senior Advisor to Senator Darrell Steinberg, former President Pro Tem of the California Senate, and to Senator De León. She also served as Principal Consultant to Assemblymember Mervyn Dymally from 2004 to 2009.
Fabian has been an active member of her community for over 30 years serving in leadership positions at all levels. She is currently Chair of the California Science Center and Exposition Park, where she has been a board member for seventeen years.
Fabian earned an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from West Los Angeles College, and attended the University of Phoenix pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services.
