$27 Million Now Available for Class 8 Truck Replacements in California

On August 7, 2020, South Coast AQMD released a statewide funding opportunity offering $27 million in California Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust funds to replace older, in-use Class 8 trucks, including freight, drayage, waste haulers, dump and concrete mixers, with zero emission battery-electric or hydrogen fuel cell trucks.

The Program Announcement (#PA2021-01) is on a first come, first served basis until all funds have been used. To be eligible for funding, truck owners must demonstrate, at a minimum, one year of ownership, 75 percent operation within California and compliance with applicable state rules and regulations. The older existing truck must be scrapped. Applications may only be submitted online.
