South Coast AQMD’s 8th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service will be on Saturday, January 16, 2021. For the first time, the MLK Day of Service will be hosted virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s theme The Dream Continues: Working Together to Clean the Air reaffirms South Coast AQMD’s commitment to address the inequalities of environmental justice while educating and empowering community residents. Join master of ceremonies Christine Devine to reflect on the work South Coast AQMD has done and discuss pathways to accomplish future environmental justice goal attainment. To register for the MLK day of Service, please email cleanairconnections@aqmd.gov.

On January 28, 2021 South Coast AQMD will host a virtual Faith-Based Event for faith leaders in the Inland Empire. The Clean Air Conversation with Community Faith Leaders event will include a panel discussion about solutions for air pollution, with an emphasis on goods movement (truck and rail), the impact of AB 617 Community Air Protection Program, and stationary sources of air pollution that impact air quality in the Inland Empire. The goal of the event is to provide greater awareness to faith leaders in the Inland Empire of the impacts of poor air quality in their communities.

On March 27, 2021 South Coast AQMD is excited to announce the 7th Annual Cesar Chavez Day of Remembrance. This year’s theme “Yes We Can…United We Will Fight for Clean Air (Sí Se Puede…Unidos Lucharemos por Aire Limpio)” encourages community involvement and local businesses to continue the fight for improved air quality. This event will also be hosted virtually.
