AQMD’s new 400-CEQA form is being used now to determine if an environmental analysis, under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), is necessary for new permit applications.
As of Jan. 1, 2001, applicants must submit a completed 400-CEQA form along with each 400-A application. (NOTE: Applicants submitting multiple applications for the same project only need to submit one 400-CEQA form.)
This new screening tool will be used to determine if an analysis of potential impacts -- as stipulated under CEQA, the state law to protect the environment -- is necessary. If it is deemed necessary a member of AQMD’s CEQA staff will contact the project applicant to help him or her fulfill the CEQA requirements before the permit is issued. There is currently no extra charge to process the form.
To further assist applicants AQMD also created instructions which, along with the form, can be downloaded from the CEQA portion of the AQMD website at www.aqmd.gov/ceqa/400CEQA.html.
Copies of and instructions for the form also can be obtained by calling AQMD’s Permit Services team at (909) 396-3385. For more information on the 400-CEQA form and any of its attachments, call Michael Krause at (909) 396-2706 or Barbara Radlein (909) 396-2716.
