Members Also Reappointed
San Bernardino County
Supervisor Bill Postmus has formally joined the Governing Board of the South
Coast Air Quality Management District.
Postmus, sworn in at the Jan. 9, 2004 AQMD Governing Board
meeting, will serve a term ending Jan. 1, 2007. Postmus will represent San
Bernardino County on AQMD’s Board.
Postmus, 32, is vice-chairman of the San Bernardino County
Board of Supervisors. He was elected First District Supervisor in November
2000, representing the largest county supervisory district in the contiguous
United States.
He also is chairman of the Mojave Desert Air Quality
Management District, past president of San Bernardino Associated Governments
(SANBAG) and a Local Agency Formation Commissioner.
Postmus is a member of several additional governing boards,
including the Victor Valley Economic Development Authority (VVEDA) and the
Victor Valley Transit Authority, and he is Chairman of First 5 San
Bernardino. He is a member of the Public Lands Steering Committee of the
National Association of Counties. A resident of Hesperia, Mr. Postmus is a
graduate of the University of Redlands.
In addition to Postmus joining the Board, three AQMD Board
Members were reappointed last week to terms ending Jan. 15, 2008:
- Jane Carney was reappointed by the state
Senate Rules Committee. She has served on the Board since March 2000;
- William Craycraft was reappointed by the
Orange County cities selection committee. Craycraft, a Mission Viejo
Council Member, represents the cities of Orange County and has served on the
AQMD Board since December 2002; and
- Beatrice J.S. LaPisto-Kirtley was
appointed by the Los Angeles County cities selection committee.
LaPisto-Kirtley, a Bradbury Council Member, represents cities in the eastern
portion of Los Angeles County.
AQMD is the air pollution control agency for Orange County
and major portions of Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
