March 2, 2007

To represent Orange County

Orange County Supervisor Bill Campbell was sworn in today as the newest member of the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s Governing Board.

Campbell will represent Orange County on AQMD’s Board.

Campbell was elected in 2003 as the Third District Supervisor for Orange County.  From 1996 to 2002 he served in the California State Assembly.

In addition to the AQMD Board, Supervisor Campbell will continue to serve as a member of various organizations, including the Orange County Transportation Authority, the Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission, the Orange County Council of Governments, the San Joaquin and Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridors, the Orange County Housing Authority, the Library Advisory Committee and the Orange County Fire Authority.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount University in electrical engineering and his graduate degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.

AQMD Board members serve four-year terms.  Campbell will fill the unexpired term of former Orange County Supervisor Jim Silva, which ends on Jan. 15, 2010.

AQMD is the air pollution control agency for Orange County and major portions of Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
