| Oct. 9, 2008 Air quality
officials have issued a smoke advisory today for areas of the Southland that
may be impacted by smoke from the wildfire at Camp Pendleton.
All individuals are urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary
outdoor activities in any area directly impacted by smoke. This includes
areas where residents can see or smell smoke.
Air quality may reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups level in areas
directly impacted by smoke.
Wildfires generate smoke containing numerous air pollutants including
fine particulates known as PM10 and PM2.5.
What to Do When Air Pollution Reaches Unhealthy Levels
In areas where air quality is forecast to be UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE
GROUPS, sensitive or susceptible persons, such as those with heart or lung
disease, should minimize outdoor activity.
For more tips on avoiding health impacts from the smoke, see
