Permit Application Penalty Holiday program among agenda items to be
discussed
WHAT:
The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Governing Board will
conduct its March meeting in the Long Beach City Council Chambers. The
Board’s meeting, usually held at its Diamond Bar headquarters, will move
this week to Long Beach to give South Bay residents an opportunity to
address the AQMD Board in their own community.
Among the items to be discussed, AQMD’s Board is expected to formally adopt
a six-month Permit Application Penalty Holiday program exempting businesses
from penalties if they lack required permits and apply for them. In
addition, AQMD staff will provide an update on “backstop” rules they are
developing for the San Pedro Bay Clean Air Action Plan. The backstop rules
are designed to ensure that the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach reduce
their fair share of emissions, which is a key strategy in reducing harmful
diesel particulate and smog-forming air pollution in the region.
WHERE: Long Beach City Council
Chambers, City Hall
333 West Ocean Blvd, Long Beach
WHEN: 9:00 a.m.
Friday, March 5, 2010
