The Air Toxics "Hot Spots"
Information and Assessment Act (the Act) requires each district to recover
state and district program costs, H&SC §44380 et. seq. At the SCAQMD, this is accomplished through Rule 307.1. The fees assessed
through this regulation are used to:
- inventory toxic air emissions;
- prioritize facilities for
presentation of risk assessments;
- review risk assessments;
- notify the public of potential health
risk from exposure to the emissions;
- provide quidance to the facilities in regarding the potential health
risks from exposure to the emissions;
- develop risk assessment guidelines and chemical potency values; and,
- maintain a computerized, statewide inventory of toxic emissions for
toxic reduction rulemaking.
