The receptor distance is the distance from outside
the boundaries of a facility where a person may experience exposure to
diesel exhaust due to the operation of a stationary diesel-fueled CI engine
measured in meters. Receptor locations include,
but are not limited to, residences, businesses, hospitals, daycare centers,
and schools (see definition below).
Residential Receptor Locations: Include current residential land
uses and areas that may be developed for residential uses in the future,
given land use trends in the general area. The residential receptor
distance is defined as the closest distance between
a stationary diesel-fueled CI engine at the
facility and the property boundary of any one of the residential receptor
locations.
Commercial Receptor Locations: Include areas zoned for
manufacturing, light or heavy industry, retail activity, or locations that
are regular work sites. For facilities with a single
stationary diesel-fueled CI engine, the
receptor distance is from the stack to the nearest receptor location.
Schools or School Grounds: means any public or private school,
including juvenile detention facilities, used for purposes of the education
of more than 12 children in kindergarten or any of grades 1 to 12. This
definition does not include any private school in which education is
primarily conducted in private homes. School or School Grounds includes any
building or structure, playground, athletic field, or other areas of school
property, but does not include unimproved school property.
