Other Programs
There has been considerable recent activity in developing new or enhanced
vehicle scrapping programs to stimulate economic growth and to benefit the
air quality. The following information is for programs outside of the
SCAQMD's JURISDICTION.
This information is provided for information only, the SCAQMD is not
affiliated with the following programs.
There is a new federal program where you can trade in your vehicle for a voucher with certain dealerships to use
towards the purchase or lease of a new car through the federal
CARS (Cash for Clunkers) program.

For California residents, if your car passed its last Smog
Check, you may qualify for a
Voluntary Accelerated
Vehicle Retirement (VAVR) programs within your particular county. If your car did not pass its last Smog Check, you still have
the option of participating in the Bureau of Automotive Repair's
Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) where you may qualify for a
financial incentive to repair
or retire your vehicle.
