Common Error Messages in Rule 314 Web-based Application

Below is a list of common errors that may occur when attempting to submit data
for Rule 314 purposes.

Error messages
Error messages appear in a red font and indicate a significant problem with the
data. If errors are found in the data, NO data will be uploaded. The message
should explain the problem sufficiently for you to make corrections, if not, look
through the Common Errors below for a possible solution or contact District
staff.

Warning messages
Warnings messages appear in an orange font and indicate an issue with
the data. The data WILL be uploaded even if warnings are found. You should look
through the warnings and review the data submitted.

Product data must be in a
text file
The file for upload must be a Text (tab delimited) file. The file name
must end with “.txt” with no other periods in the name.

Manufacturers ID Number does
not exist
Ensure that the ID number is correct. If ID number is correct or you
have no ID number, please contact District staff.

No product data or multiple
errors on Line 1
Make sure the header row has been completely removed from the Text
file. Do not leave a blank row at the top of the file for upload.

Product Code invalid
Each product code must be unique. If two product codes are identical,
modify one with an additional character (i.e. “1” or “a”) to make it unique.

Product Groups missing
If products are not grouped, enter “1” for the number of products
grouped.

Timed Out
If the web page has been inactive for some time, you will be logged
out. Please login again and resume the data submittal process.

Invalid character
Apostrophes, commas, quotation marks and trademark symbols ( ™ ® © )
must be removed to successfully upload the file.

Undetermined Error
This error is possibly the result of using Category 21 - Low Solids
Coating. That category is no longer available. Select the applicable category
(i.e. stains, waterproofing sealers, waterproofing concrete/masonry sealers) and
then note that the product is low-solids by entering “Y” under LowSolids (column
M).
