Annual Air Quality Monitoring Network Plan

The final version of the AQMD's
2011 Annual Air Quality Monitoring Network Plan is now available.

Background

The Annual Air Quality Monitoring Network Plan describes the network of ambient air quality monitors located within the AQMD's 4-county jurisdiction [click here to view map (pdf*, 456 KB)].  The Plan includes a review of actions taken during the previous fiscal year, and outlines plans for action in the year ahead.

Federal regulations require that the air quality monitoring network be reviewed annually to identify any need for additions, relocations, or terminations of monitoring sites or instrumentation.  After a 30-day comment period, the Plan is submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) by July 1 of each year.

Public Comment Period
The draft of the 2011 Annual Air Quality Monitoring Network Plan was prepared to meet the federal requirements listed in Title 40, Part 58, Section 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR 58.10), and was available for public comments until June 30, 2011.  This 30-day pre-submittal period is the mechanism by which the public can provide comments before the U.S. EPA approves any changes to the monitoring network, including the Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5) monitoring network.

Hard copies of this document are available at the AQMD Public Information Desk at AQMD Headquarters, 21865 Copley Drive, Diamond Bar, CA 91765.  The document was also made available to U.S. EPA during this period for review.

If you have comments or questions about the plan, contact Philip M. Fine at pfine@aqmd.gov, or (909)396-2239.
