The senior population (55+) is a demographic that has great potential to influence healthy lifestyle changes not only for themselves but their extended family members. To reach this important demographic, the SCAQMD is hosting a series of Clean Air Fairs for Seniors throughout the South Coast Air Basin.
The senior fairs, offered at no cost to
attendees, will foster awareness and increase your understanding of air quality
and related health issues and clean technology applications. It will also
empower seniors to become active participants in improving air quality as well
as provide information on what they can do in their home, neighborhood, and
community as well as with their extended family.
Transportation will be provided at no cost and coordinated through various participating organizations (senior centers, senior communities, activity centers, etc.). Requests for group transportation assistance must be requested in writing in advance. Click on the registration button below for your event location to access our Transportation Request Form.
Individuals are welcome and encouraged to attend, but they need to register directly using the online registration form (click the registration button below for the event location you want to attend). Free self-parking for individuals will be available.
The Core Program from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. will include lunch and feature:
Interactive exhibits and clean car displays will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. providing more information for seniors. Bus departures for groups will be scheduled between 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. A return ride for group attendees is guaranteed.
PAST EVENTS: Our first event, held on April 7, 2011 at Cal State University Northridge, was attended by nearly 600 senior citizens and featured celebrity speakers, health experts and more than 30 exhibitors offering health screenings, giveaways and educational and advocacy information as well as clean car displays. The second event, held on September 15, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, was attended by nearly 2,800 seniors and featured 50 exhibitors as well as celebrity and health speakers. Our third senior fair, held on October 26, 2011, at the Anaheim Hilton, was attended by more than 500 seniors and also featured exhibitors and clean car displays.
