Governing Board Summer Internship Program

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) Governing Board Summer Internship Program is open to currently enrolled college students, both undergraduate and graduate level. The 8-week program will run between
June 11, 2024, and August 2, 2024.

The types of internships available are in various South Coast AQMD divisions such as:

•           Legislative & Public Affairs/Media Office (LPAM)

•           Finance (FINANCE)

•           Technology Advancement Office (TAO)

•           Monitoring & Analysis Division (MAD)

•           Engineering & Permitting (E&P)

•           Compliance & Enforcement (C&E)

•           Information Management (IM)

•           Administrative & Human Resources (AHR)

•           Legal (LEGAL)

•           Planning, Rule Development & Implementation (PRDI)

While at South Coast AQMD, students work up to 28 hours per week, side-by-side with air quality and other professionals who are dedicated to cleaning up one of the most challenging air districts in the United States. The internship program can help students make decisions involving collegiate and graduate training in the sciences and other professional fields.

Applications received are forwarded in April to South Coast AQMD Governing Board members for review and selection. Students are expected to be notified of their selection in May and begin their assignments by June 11, 2024.

Applications should be submitted between February 1, 2024, and March 8, 2024.
