Coachella Valley Dust Monitoring Locations

Coachella Valley Sensor Network

South Coast AQMD in collaboration with Coachella Valley Association of Governments and Professor Will Porter (UC Riverside) have expanded our dust monitoring capabilities in the Coachella Valley to supplement our existing regulatory monitoring network. Four additional sensors to measure particle pollution (PM10 and PM2.5) at several locations throughout the Coachella Valley have been deployed. Additional locations are also being planned. The data will be used to inform dust mitigation strategies and will be integrated into South Coast AQMD’s daily forecasts and real-time air quality index (AQI) map to provide the public with a more detailed, accurate estimate of dust levels.

To view real-time PM10 and AQI levels, check the South Coast AQMD mobile app at https://www.aqmd.gov/mobileapp or website at www.aqmd.gov/aqimap. Sign up for alerts when air quality is poor at airalerts.org

Additionally, four environmental monitoring cameras are actively observing dust plumes in the Coachella Valley. View imagery at www.aqmd.gov/cvcameras
