Order for Abatement

On Dec. 10, 2015, SCAQMD filed a petition with the SCAQMD Hearing Board for an Order for Abatement requiring SoCalGas to take specific steps to abate the natural gas leak, monitor the leaking gas, and reduce the impacts of nuisance odors on the local community.

The initial hearing on Jan. 9, 2016 was continued to Jan. 16, 20, and 23, 2016, so that members of the affected public had opportunities to testify before the Hearing Board.  Following public testimony on Jan. 23, 2016, the SCAQMD Hearing Board heard closing statements from SoCalGas and SCAQMD, then proceeded to deliberation and a final decision leading to the issuance of the Order for Abatement.

On Feb. 20, 2016, the SCAQMD Hearing Board held a public hearing on the status of compliance with the conditions in the Order for Abatement.

On Feb. 24, 2016, at the SCAQMD Hearing Board held a hearing to hear evidence on the plan to perform sampling of indoor air quality and consider the modification and/or extension of this Order.

The SCAQMD Hearing Board held public hearings on the status of compliance with the conditions in the Order for Abatement on July 9, 2016 and Aug. 6, 2016 at California State University, Northridge and on September 17, 2016 at Hilton Woodland Hills.
