In recognition of Military Appreciation Month, South Coast AQMD held a commemorative event on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, featuring Supervisor Curt Hagman as the keynote speaker. The event honors the sacrifices and service of veterans and active-duty military personnel across our agency and the communities we serve.
Supervisor Hagman brings a distinguished record of leadership in both military and public service. As an active member of the California State Military Reserve and a San Bernardino County Supervisor, he exemplifies a lifelong commitment to public safety, community resilience, and service at every level.
The event includes keynote remarks from Supervisor Hagman, a Question-and-Answer session, and reflections from South Coast AQMD’s Veterans and Active-Duty Military Family Employee Resource Group (ERG). This event is a collaboration between the Community Engagement and Air Programs Division and the Veterans ERG. Celebrating this month is not only a tribute to those who have bravely worn the uniform, but also an opportunity to raise awareness about the connection between air quality and veteran health.
South Coast AQMD’s Employee Resource Groups play a vital role in fostering a supportive and engaged workplace. Beyond providing spaces for connection, ERGs strengthen our agency’s ability to serve diverse communities. Through education, cultural awareness, and professional development, ERGs help staff build trust, engage meaningfully, and respond effectively to the needs of the public.
As we honor those who serve, this event serves as a powerful reminder of the values we uphold every day—service, dedication, and respect for all who contribute to our mission.
