Working With Communities Cesar Chavez Day of Remembrance

South Coast AQMD’s Working with Communities employee volunteer program hosted its annual César Chávez Day of Remembrance event in Indio, California, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of the Coachella Valley. This year’s event brought together volunteers for a day of service focused on beautifying two local residences and honoring the legacy of César Chávez.

Volunteers worked on revitalization, landscaping, and general clean-up—all aimed at enhancing both the home’s exterior and creating a more welcoming environment for its residents.

The atmosphere was filled with positive energy as volunteers—many of whom had participated in previous South Coast AQMD events—worked together to create a refreshed space that reflected their shared commitment to community and service. The homeowners remained present throughout the day, expressing joy and gratitude as they watched the transformation unfold.

Events like this foster a strong sense of connection and pride, while highlighting the power of collective action to address local needs. South Coast AQMD’s Working with Communities volunteer program looks forward to continuing these efforts and deepening its impact throughout the region.
