Invest Clean Update: Expanded Funding Opportunities and Community Outreach

Share:

INVEST CLEAN continues to advance clean goods movement across Southern California with new funding opportunities, workforce investments and expanded community engagement.

Two funding opportunities are currently accepting applications. The Last Mile Freight Program, implemented in partnership with the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), opened its second round of applications in July, with $49.1 million available to support the deployment of battery-electric commercial vehicles for last-mile freight operations. The program now includes eligible Classes 4–8 vehicles, with rebates of up to $108,000 per vehicle, depending on vehicle class. Applications are due January 11, 2027.

The Charging Infrastructure Incentive Program also reopened September 9, providing incentives to support charging infrastructure for heavy-duty goods movement vehicles. Applications will be accepted through January 13, 2027.

INVEST CLEAN is also investing in the workforce needed to support the transition to zero-emission goods movement. A Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking a third-party administrator for the INVEST CLEAN Workforce Support Program opened in August, with the application deadline extended to September 15, 2026. The program will support workforce development and training opportunities related to clean transportation technologies.

Community voices continue to help guide the program. The Public Benefits Steering Committee held its most recent meeting on August 20, providing recommendations and community input on how INVEST CLEAN can maximize benefits for residents living near goods movement corridors.

Throughout the fall, the INVEST CLEAN team also participated in community outreach events to raise awareness about available funding and gather feedback on the types of clean-air and zero-emission projects residents would like to see in their neighborhoods. These conversations help inform continued outreach and implementation of the program.
