South Coast AQMD has created an employee volunteer service program, Working with Communities, in support of the agency’s commitment to improve local and regional air quality and make a difference in environmental justice communities throughout our four-county jurisdiction.
This new partnership between South Coast AQMD and Habitat for Humanity International brings together our employees and community partners on volunteer service projects throughout the year. The projects include the installation of climate-resilient and energy-efficient home improvements and in some cases, new construction.

Playhouse Build Program
South Coast AQMD, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, will hold a three-day Playhouse Build event at South Coast AQMD Headquarters. This will be an opportunity for employees to collaborate through creativity and teamwork in painting and assembling eleven (11) playhouses. Completed playhouses will be donated to schools, early childhood education centers, and nonprofit organizations with a focus in AB 617 and environmental justice communities.
Unleash your creativity and submit your design for an inspiring playhouse! Your design submission may find its home in a designated AB 617 or another environmental justice community. Stay tuned for more details.
