South Coast AQMD presents the 7th Annual Environmental Justice Virtual Conference

The Fight for Clean Air, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

South Coast AQMD invites you to participate in the 7th Annual Environmental Justice Conference, The Fight for Clean Air, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. The conference will be hosted in-person and virtually, however we may transition to an entirely virtual format depending on public health guidelines.

South Coast AQMD is honored to welcome the 38th Governor of California, the Honorable Arnold Schwarzenegger, as this year's Keynote Speaker and Founder and Executive Director of Legacy LA, Lou Calanche, as this year’s Emcee.

“The People’s Governor,” the Honorable Arnold Schwarzenegger, has worked with leaders of both major political parties to address the greatest challenges facing the state, in a bold and historic manner. He continues to work positive and engaging approaches to help terminate air pollution and build awareness of climate change.

At Legacy LA, Lou Calanche provides youth with leadership development and the opportunities to flourish. Legacy LA youth are leading an innovative effort to mitigate air pollution from a 15-lane freeway near a Northern Boyle Heights neighborhood.

We invite attendees to:

  • Exchange valuable strategies to engage and advocate for clean air and healthy sustainable communities for all;

  • Engage in discussion about important tools and programs to promote community health and safety; and

  • Network with leading experts and key stakeholders who are passionate in creating long-term solutions and providing resources.

The in-person and virtual locations will include Spanish interpretation. For in-person attendees, complimentary breakfast, lunch, and parking will be provided. Safety protocols will be in place for attendees registering to attend in-person. More details will be released as we approach the date.
