Coachella Valley Dust Summit

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) in partnership with Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez are hosting a summit that will focus on the growing concern of windblown sand and dust in the Coachella Valley, its health implications and potential strategies to mitigate its impact.

Experts from South Coast AQMD, California Air Resources Board, Coachella Valley Association of Governments, Coachella Valley Conservation Commission, Riverside University Health System, Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the University of California, Riverside and other community voices will share insights and engage with the community in a panel discussion.

The hybrid summit will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 5 p.m. in Palm Desert and online. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from government agency representatives and academia about the challenges posed by windblown sand and dust and its effects on air quality and public health to explore collaborative solutions. The panel discussions will include a dedicated question-and-answer session to ensure community input and dialogue.
