This June, South Coast AQMD welcomed 28
college students selected from a highly competitive
applicant pool to participate in the 2025 Governing
Board Summer Internship Program. Throughout the
summer, interns participate in a variety of educational
experiences in the field of environmental and air quality
stewardship, including outreach initiatives, city council
meetings, field visits, and working alongside supervisors
implementing programs throughout the agency such as
AB 617, human resources, compliance, monitoring and
analysis, permitting, rule development, and information
management staff. South Coast AQMD also provides
unique opportunities for interns to participate in lab
tours, community events, and special programs like our
elementary, middle, and high school air quality education
programs.
Although interns observe a great deal of behind-the-scenes
work, they also receive plenty of hands-on experience.
Over the course of the six-to-ten-week program, they
receive a well-rounded education on how South Coast
AQMD cleans up one of the most challenging air districts
in the nation. For more information about the South Coast
AQMD Summer Internship, visit www.aqmd.gov/careers/
