AQ-SPEC Team Members
Andrea Polidori, Ph.D.
Atmospheric Measurements Manager
Andrea Polidori is the Atmospheric Measurements Manager for Science & Technology Advancement at the South Coast Air Quality Management District. His primary responsibilities include the overall management of all SCAQMD ambient air monitoring network operations, special monitoring programs, and related projects. He is also involved in the analysis of data collected from numerous field activities and air monitoring projects, and is currently leading the design, development and implementation of the Air Quality Sensor Performance Evaluation Center (AQ-SPEC), a program created to conduct comprehensive performance tests of commercially available, low-cost air quality sensors. He is also managing SCAQMD’s fence-line air monitoring program. Dr. Polidori received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences from Urbino University in Italy and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Environmental Sciences from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
Vasileios Papapostolou, Sc.D.
Air Quality Specialist
Dr. Vasileios Papapostolou is an Air Quality Specialist for Science & Technology Advancement at the South Coast Air Quality Management District. He is responsible for the systematic evaluation of the performance of air quality sensors measuring NAAQS criteria pollutants and air toxics. He designs, develops and implements complex laboratory and field experimentation methods requiring state-of-the-art sampling and analysis techniques, conducts data analysis and theoretical evaluations of the experimental results. Prior to joining the SCAQMD, he was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health where he designed, developed and implemented air pollution health effects studies. Dr. Papapostolou received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in Greece, his Master of Science in Exposure Assessment and Doctor of Science in Environmental Health degrees from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Brandon Feenstra, M.Sc.
Air Quality Instrument Specialist II
Mr. Brandon Feenstra is an Air Quality Instrument Specialist II for Science & Technology Advancement at the South Coast Air Quality Management District. He is responsible for the field deployment aspect of the AQ-SPEC evaluations and for designing deployable sensor solutions that can be incorporated into SCAQMD’s ambient air monitoring network. Mr. Feenstra received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, his Master of Public Administration, and his Master of Science in Earth & Environmental Sciences degrees from the California State University in San Bernardino.
Hang Zhang, Ph.D.
