Ambient Air Analysis

On November 10, South Coast AQMD field staff supported California Air Resources Board (CARB) monitoring efforts in the collection of samples to assess the identity and levels of pollution related to the leak.  

In addition, on December 4, 2015, the South Coast AQMD Governing Board approved the expenditure of $382,500 for additional equipment and services to enhance natural gas monitoring capability at the Aliso Canyon Facility.  This equipment is currently in use at Aliso Canyon and in the Porter Ranch community.  The new equipment will provide increased accuracy and the flexibility to be deployed in either a mobile or stationary platform.

Executive Summary on Air Monitoring Results

A document summarizing the air monitoring results from all fixed site and mobile measurements conducted by CARB and the South Coast AQMD between October 2015 and June 2017 can be found here. A more detailed discussion on these air monitoring results will be provided in a companion technical report that is currently being finalized.
