Aeroqual S500-PID

General Description

The Aeroqual Series 500 is a handheld monitor that can be used with a wide range of gas sensor and particulate matter sensor heads. The sensor head used in this AQ-SPEC evaluation is the volatile organic compounds (VOC) photoionization detector (PID) head (0-30 ppm) that provides real-time measurements of VOC concentrations.

Principle of Operation

The Aeroqual Series 500-PID (0-30 ppm) sensor uses a 10.6 eV ultraviolet lamp to ionize the VOCs into positive and negative ions. The current produced by the ions is measured by the detector and is proportional to the concentration of VOC in the air sample. The sensors come factory calibrated.
