Community Air Protection Program (CAPP) Incentives

In 2017, Governor Brown signed Assembly Bill 617 (AB 617) to develop a new community-focused strategy to reduce emissions of criteria pollutants and toxic air contaminants in communities impacted by disproportionate levels of air pollution. Since 2017 the California Legislature has budgeted $1.2 billion to support AB 617 with incentives for advanced technologies for cleaner air in these communities. Through its CAPP Incentives Program, CARB has allocated approximately $462 million from these funds to South Coast AQMD to administer incentives for its AB 617 Program since 2017. These funds target emissions and exposure reductions from mobile, stationary, and area sources within AB 617 communities.
